The students I work with are middle schools special students in an urban setting. Unfortunately, when resources are being disbursed within the building, regular education teachers are given priority over special education teachers; we are usually given what is left over. Many of my students come from low income families in which extras such as headphones and calculators are not an option for buying at the beginning of the school year. All of my students are working with a reading deficit; all are at least 3 years behind grade level.
