The majority of the students in my classroom are from low income families. We are a Title I school with 97% of our students receiving reduced or free lunch assistance. Our school's demographics are 90% African-American, 5% Hispanic, 4% Haitian and 1% Caucasian students. They are a diverse group of learners who possess untapped abilities and creativity. As an educator, I desire to help them unleash their full potential through whatever means necessary. The school's budget does not allow for purchase of laptops for all classrooms which necessitates seeking other means of procuring needed resources and equipment such as computers, laptops, tablets, and other technology. Since most of our population is from economically disadvantage homes achieving the kind of exposure to computer-based learning is very limited because they don't have computers in their households. It is important for my classroom to be adequately designed to support student success.
