As a kindergarten teacher in an urban low-income/high-poverty community, I have seen that my students face many challenges in and out of the classroom.
We have a brand new school building and laptops, however, we were not given the proper space to house our laptops in. They are stacked on top of each other with charging cords and surge protectors laying across the floor. Students need to access their laptops several times throughout the day which requires unplugging and replugging them in each time.
Many students don't have access to resources that are needed to prepare them for a 21st century world. Despite the challenges that these students face every day, they still come in ready and eager to learn.
My students deserve access to technology in an organized and safe classroom.
