My students are from 6th to 8th graders. Most of them have been learning Mandarin since kindergarten. Some of my students are newcomers from Chinese-speaking countries. Together they learn language arts and ancient history, medieval history and US history all in Chinese! With limited public funding and resources, the program continues to grow. Students who are in the middle school immersion program come with bilingual and cultural sensitivity because they have been immersed in bilingual education and they have worked hard toward their goals . They are witty, studious, and curious about the world outside of the US.
