My kindergarten classroom is located in a Southeast Seattle, Title 1 school. My school's mission and purpose is to serve our students and to help them improve academically and socially. At my school we remain undeterred by labels such as low achieving or disadvantaged. At my school change and progress take place and although we are taking steps to close the achievement gap, we, I and the committed, diverse, and talented group of educators I serve with, are determined to expose our students to a variety of interests by creating stimulating environments, exploring rich disciplines and subjects and equipping our classrooms with quality, front line resources and tools. We are committed to doing more and thinking differently.
My student population is representative of the diversity celebrated in Southeast Seattle. My students, ages 5 and 6, span the socioeconomic stratus and collectively represent five languages. My goal is to provide each with a momentous learning experience.
