Our girls basketball team is on the up and up. Since the spring time, they have invested many hours to get better at the game. Spring time involved having individual skills on Tuesdays and Thursday after school. During the summer, especially in June, they were involved in team camps, open gyms, and weight room workouts. Our student-athletes utilize sports as an avenue to escape their home life, even for a brief couple of hours.
Over the summer, almost all of our student athletes are working in the surrounding agricultural fields, picking lettuce, sorting potatoes, and many other back-breaking tasks around large farms and ranches. They have to work in order to fulfill monetary necessities for their respective families, as almost all of our school's population live below the poverty line. Our school has a 93% free lunch program.
Our student-athletes play hard and want to be successful in the sports they are involved with.
