I work in an urban school in Wisconsin. The students I work with are very excited to learn and to be at school. I work with English Language Learners from a variety of countries from Mexico to Cambodia in grades PreK-5. My school is a high poverty school, 92% of the students receive free or reduced lunches. The school is working to improve reading test scores and the ELL students are in particular need of literacy development. Our school has historically performed very poorly, but recent test scores have shown that all students can learn and it doesn't matter what race they are, what language background they come from, or how much money they have. Chromebooks will allow students to access information and reading resources that may not be available to them outside of school.
