Our school is located in East New York and services the students and families of the local community. I work in a growing Title I school, with students from all backgrounds and many needs. My students not only bring with them a diverse background, but also, hardships, laughter, quirks, and intelligence. Enter my classroom, or any classroom at my school and you can see students hard at work - improving their writing and reading, grappling with a math problem, or exploring a hypothesis. But the truth is, school is not the hardest part of their day. I envision a classroom that is a safe place for learning, where students can learn from each other, collaborate, and find success. I believe that with the right resources, our classrooms can become that place for students.
