In having the right materials, my students will be motivated and engaged during our writer's workshop. I plan on having my students each have their own writing journal and different writing paper as well as instruments to give them a choice in writing. During the writing workshop, I will be conferencing with small groups, so it is important that I have all the material ready and at their reach, so they can work independently as I work with small groups. Even if students aren't all writing yet, they can draw pictures and tell a story. Writing allows students to be creative and use their imagination. It also allows for students to share and dialogue, thus practicing their oral language and learning new vocabulary in Spanish. Sharing our diverse experiences provides opportunities for the students to get to know each other and share common similarities or differences. All this creates a safe and positive environment in where we learn about our backgrounds, cultures, languages, and writing. The supplies I'm requesting are for a writing center. I would like for my students to each have their own writing journal, different types of paper for the students to chose from when not writing in their journals, share markers, pencils, pens, and scissors, and a shelf in where all this can be organized and be of easy access to them.
