The students in my classroom are like any other second grader, except they come from a very low socioeconomic background, as does most of our school. They are loving and energetic, and love center time. One of the best times in our day is when I have the opportunity to read to them. During that time, they are still and quiet, hanging on every word. Being read to does not happen very often, as several of my students only speak Spanish at home or books are not available. Any additional opportunities I can provide in my room can only enhance their everyday learning.
