My students are in 1st grade and speak Spanish and some English. They are English language learners, where English is actually their second language. In addition, 95% of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch and most are at risk for not graduating high school due to being economically disadvantaged and/or because English is their second language. Despite their labels, they are so eager to learn and love school!
