My school is a small, special education school serving students in grades K-8. My students are 6th and 7th graders with behavior and learning disabilities. My students face challenges with academics and social/emotional issues because of their disabilities. However, they are eager to learn and want someone to care and give them a chance. Having a disability myself, I am visually impaired, I try to inspire my students to be the best they can be and show them that anything is possible if they put their minds and hearts into it. Most of my students are at least two grade levels below where they should be and struggle to catch up. They do very little reading at home either because it is not encouraged or there isn't anybody there to help them because their parents need to work just to make end meet. I believe with the right tools and people who care, my students can reach their potential.
