The books will serve as a boost to our teachers' classroom libraries. The classroom library is an important part of every Language Arts classroom. It is a path to becoming life long readers. The right book can take our students places they have only dreamed about. Unfortunately, our students don't have libraries at home, and they lack the confidence to believe in themselves to become readers. Our teachers are working hard to change the culture of literacy for our students. These books are chosen with the students and their interests in mind, and they will strengthen the classroom libraries in our building. The baskets will begin to assist the teachers in organizing their libraries in order for students to quickly find books they are interested in reading.
Changing the culture of literacy for our students will grow their confidence as readers, which in turn, will help them in all aspects of their educational experience.
