I teach two classes of fourth graders. There are 25 students in one class and 23 in the other. One class is a remediation class, very low reading level and low math achievement level results from 3rd grade and the other class has 3/4 on grade level. Several are unmotivated and need an extra incentive. Therefore I believe that I can help their reading interest by engaging them to read and teaching them about Science with live animals and with up to date interesting Science materials such as the Scholastic Science Magazines. Our school is located in a small city in the southern part NC. Many students parents have low income, students receive free lunch and parents or the school do not contribute Science materials for learning for our classes.
I try to be creative by making things that I need and often buy materials necessary, but it is very difficult at times and way too expensive, so this woud be a tremendous blessing for our class if we are able to get generous donors to help .
