I work in an extremely low income district. The student population at my school is approximately 90% Hispanic, 9% Black and 1% other (White, Asian, Middle-Eastern, etc...). The school is Title 1, with 100% of the population on free/reduced lunch. The students also receive free breakfast. The school has a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) focus.
My students do not have the same advantages as peers in districts 15-20 minutes away, but they are hard workers and the parents do want a better life for their children.
