I am a media coordinator at a low performing, economically disadvantaged high school serving 9th-12th graders. The student population comes from diverse demographic groups. Sixty eight percent of our students are African American, 23 percent are Caucasian, 6 percent Hispanic, and 3 percent are multi-racial/other. These demographics have remained fairly steady over the past few years. Although the immediate neighborhood is a mostly older, stable population, many of our students come from other, more urban and lower income areas riding either school buses or public transportation to school.
