I'm a first grade teacher at a Title I school where resources are at a minimal. Most teachers spend money out of their pockets to purchase supplies, materials and furniture to make their classroom an inviting learning environment for students. Most children who attend this school view it as a safe haven. When the playing field is leveled, learning takes place no matter the socioeconomic status.
