To help my students stay motivated while they sit and focus during core instruction, I am interested in Bouncy Desk and Chair bands for the students use. The usual school setting requires children to sit still, pay attention and focus. This can pose a problem for students with ADHD, ADD and young students in general. Knowing that movement helps students on a regular basis, we do a lot of moving around in the classroom to help alleviate the challenge of sitting in chairs. We have alternative seating but at some part of the day, the students will be working while sitting in chairs. Having access to the desk/chair bands, they will be able to move in their seats without disrupting the class or the lessons. They will have an outlet for releasing nervous energy or for those with restless legs. There will be minimal noise, eliminating distraction for other students.
Desk/chair bands can be used as accommodations (make learning easier by letting the students be able to move their legs/feet while still being able to listen and work. Interventions will head off behaviors that can disrupt the classroom learning environment for students.
All students will have access to the Bouncy Desk/chair bands and benefit from using them. The chair challenge will no longer be an issue in our classroom.
