My third graders are curious, excited about learning, and so happy to be back to normal! This group was online for the crucial year of first grade. We are working hard to catch up on missed skills while trying to stay on track with all the important learning of third grade.
I teach in a small elementary school in the heart of SE Portland. This is an area that is changing rapidly. We lost our Title 1 status before the pandemic, because we dipped right below the level of poverty that qualifies us for extra funds in Portland Public Schools. This hasn't been recalculated in 4 years because of everything that has happened. This is a wonderful community of involved families, but losing that funding impacts us, and needs are still there.
