I teach preschool to a group of 24 children in California. We serve low-income families who are struggling to make ends meet. Sometimes they work two jobs or they are unemployed/seeking jobs, or attending school. As a consequence, their children spend most of their day at our preschool. My goal as their teacher is to provide an environment where they can feel safe and nurtured. I plan activities that help them develop in all areas of development, but since they are dual language learners, they specially need to practice literacy activities like reading, listening to stories, singing, chanting, etc. to enhance their language skills.
