I would love to get a set of these Wonder books to read with my 4th grade students. This book helped my kids become kinder and more compassionate last year when I read it as a read-aloud. I would like to do a more in-depth novel study this year and I know my kids would benefit from it! I would also like to take my kids to the movie that is coming out later this year so we can compare and contrast the book to the movie.
"Wonder" is a fantastic book that has many values worth sharing with my students. I want my students to be able to interact and relate to the characters and the relationships that are described in this book. It is hard to find quality books the students find interesting. This book is one of them.
Teaching kindness is one of the keys to helping implement character education in today's youth. As the characters of the book reveal, kindness is the key to making and retaining valuable friendships, even if someone is different than the others. My hope is that my students will learn the importance of kindness through the characters' experiences in Wonder.
