Our school is located in Idaho, reported to be 48/50 in student achievement. We are also a Title 1 school with more than 65% of our student population on free or reduced lunches. My class is composed of students from very diverse backgrounds. One child lost a parent in a motorcycle accident, another moved here from Guatemala within the last year, another didn't attend any school last year. At most there are three students from a traditional family setting. Despite their backgrounds, I have the most loving, helpful, and dedicated students a teacher could ask for. I am doing all in my power as a first-year teacher to make bridging an extremely large gap a fun and rewarding experience for my class.
