Students will be able to read their own copy of a novel and mark it with sticky notes to trace how a wealthy young girl living in Mexico goes through the Revolution and Great Depression when her father is killed and their land is destroyed.
She is forced to move with her mother to America and become a migrant worker. Students will connect the novel to articles where they learn about human rights and overcoming life's struggles to persevere and succeed.
I am hoping to do this as a novel study sometime in September or possibly late August if we are ready to start a novel by then.
