I have requested books that include research, strategies, curriculum, activities, and worksheets that can be used to instruct my students (as well as parents and teachers) about important life skills. I love to start with established programs or curriculum and then embellish them to add interest. For example, I often create Powerpoint presentations that include activities, video clips, visual supports, humor, role-plays etc. to help students relate and engage in the subject. The students laugh and think of situations that relate to their own lives. They identify value in learning new skills. They see or experience examples and non-examples that help them to choose positive and productive social skills. Your donation will provide numerous resources to explicitly teach and practice life skills, increasing opportunities for success and resilience in each of my students. Because I work with a wide range of students, I have chosen curriculum for a variety of ages, focusing on numerous skill sets and challenges. These resources will provide support for a broad range of students in multiple settings. My hope is to use all of the resources you provide, to increase student interest and learning in the area of social and life skills. Because many of my students have to work hard for their successes, I want to add resources, strategies and understanding that will improve their chance for success.
