I teach at a neighborhood school, of about 350 students, situated on a hill overlooking beautiful mountains and cow pastures. The resource room at our school is a space available to all students for multiple purposes. The kids I serve on a regular basis are most often students struggling in the general classrooms, who need extra academic and/or behavioral support. I work with students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, many with special needs and exceptionalities. Many students become overwhelmed with the fast pace in their general education classrooms, or have sensory challenges and they use my room as a calm and relaxing space too unwind. Our school is a safe, open, and joyful learning environment where students, staff, and community work together striving for educational excellence.
