We are introducing a new International Foods course to our FACS program this year and these supplies will help to jump-start this curriculum. Students in our small rural town have little exposure to different foods, food preparation skills, or cooking from scratch. I am hoping to change that by taking these students on a culinary adventure across the world. Students will be preparing traditional meals from different geographic regions using basic cooking skills as well as though specific to certain geographic regions. Some lessons will allow students to prepare traditional Hispanic meals using the tortilla press, Asian meals using the wok and sushi kits, and Italian dishes will be enhanced by fresh pasta. Other items in this project will benefit other methods of baking and cooking that will be presented.
Students will step into the world of international cuisine while learning proper cooking techniques that are appropriate to their geographic region.
