Last year school year, students faced many challenges with both online and in-person learning. I would like to give my students the tools they need in order to be successful in reading.
Over the summer, I took a professional development and became Orton-Gillingham trained. In this training, I was provided strategies and tools to help my students achieve success in Reading. For the 2021 -2022 school year, I want to be able to use this training to help engage my students in fun, engaging activities. The sand and sand tray will provide kinesthetic elements to help them retain phonemic awareness and phonics concepts they need in order for them to become proficient readers. The screens will help them master spelling as it also requires kinesthetic elements.
Each student will have their own materials to help them learn how to decode, encode and spell using hands-on activities. I believe with the right tools, my students will become confident readers and be able to succeed both academically and socially.
