My classroom consists of 21 enthusiastic first graders. The majority of my students come from households that are considered low income with challenging family dynamics. Many of them do not have access to technology at home. Therefore, I feel it is one of my primary jobs to use technology in order to assist my first graders with their learning. Proficiency with computers and other technology has become crucial to their future success in school and the work force.
Currently my school only has 12 computers for 150 students. This makes it challenging to give them consistent learning opportunities. I am only able to use the computers once a week. This is not nearly enough time to create a meaningful project or to assist them in their learning.
