I believe that cozy and comfortable furniture will allow me to create a classroom that is a pleasant and functional space for my learners. It is very important for me to create a calm and inviting classroom environment that acts as a home away from home. My students spend 30+ hours in my classroom, so I feel that it is important to create a homey space with comfortable seating where students will enjoy spending their time. The furniture will serve as seating in cozy reading nooks and seating for the listening center, two places that my students spend quite a bit of time in. Students will be more inclined to independently read books and engage in whole group activities when they have somewhere comfortable to sit. The calm and soothing colors of the cozy furniture will help students to feel safe and secure within the classroom.
