My students aren't just students. They are JROTC cadets that have gone the extra mile by being a part of a championship JROTC rifle team. Our school is in a very rural community in South Carolina, and my students rally together around how they can improve themselves, learn about citizenship, and their opportunities after high school. JROTC is one way that my students see opportunities for scholarships for college, joining ROTC programs in college or a career in the Armed Forces if desired. Also, as the Head Coach for the Track and Field Team, some of my students are members of our high school track and field team. The student's commitment to the track program is unparalleled. More athletes participate in track and field than any other sport at our school. They compete with the heart of a champion every time they walk on the track.
