My school is a Title One school, so the majority of my students come from low income families. My first graders love hands-on learning and technology. They love working in groups and with partners because they are very social. Most of my kids come from single parent homes or are raised by a grandparent or another family member. Many of them don't receive the support they need from home because their parents or guardians work long hours to provide for their families. School may be the only place that some of them receive the attention and support that they deserve. My school has a goal of making sure that all students, regardless of their socioeconomic status, are given the tools that they need to succeed. We are always striving to find more effective teaching methods that will reach our students where they're at and get them to where they need to be.
