I am requesting funds to be trained in one of the top reading instruction programs for students with reading disabilities. Orton Gillingham, is a researched-based, multi-sensory approach to teaching reading. This program has been especially successful with students that struggle with reading and those with dyslexia. As a math and reading intervention (special education) teacher, it is imperative that I am using the most effective approach for all my students.With this program my students will receive systematic, explicit, rigorous instruction in conjunction with activities that promote literacy skill development. This training includes access to resources that the students can use directly, in both an in person or distance learning format. I get 30 minutes a day with most of my students, and I want to make those 30 minutes count.
