I work at a Title I school in a low socioeconomic area in Northern California. Many of my students have never had any experience with technology. They do not know what a computer is or how to navigate one. Many of my students struggle with basic fundamental skills like knowing letter names and sounds, colors, shapes and numbers. Many of my students are discouraged and become frustrated when they are unable to learn. As their teacher, I want to provide new exciting ways of learning. My students need the extra support and interactive opportunities that computers can provide them with to be encouraged and successful in all areas, especially in language arts and math.
