Art education is a chance for our scholars to express themselves and communicate in ways that are otherwise silenced by their communities and impoverished home lives. Having the opportunity to work with materials that real artists use empowers them to create with purpose and passion.
Our scholars are motivated by the expectation to be college bound. For many of them, they will be the first of their families to achieve the exact future they envision for themselves. They work hard, but often need support in believing how much potential they truly have. Our school works tirelessly to invoke a culture of self-confidence, perseverance, resilience, and high expectations both for oneself and their community.
Materials such as linoleum and their carving tools cannot be afforded into our schools budget because of the other considerations we need to make in terms of scholar needs, including backpack programs that send food home on the weekends.
Please help me help our scholars grow.
