I have the pleasure of teaching 10 of the most positive and courageous middle school students with special needs. Our school is located in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. I teach students with moderate to severe disabilities. They have a variety of disabilities, such as, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, and rare genetic disorders like Lowe's Syndrome. Many of my students are medically fragile, however that doesn't stop them from having an eagerness to WANT to learn.
Our class focuses on academics, functional & life skills, and communication. Many of my students are in wheelchairs, and some of my students can only communicate through the use of augmentative or assistive devices. They are extremely special and it would be a great achievement if we could add some new technology into their daily lives.
