My classroom consists of digitally native 5th graders. However, several have no access to technology at their homes. Our school has a continuously increasing number of students that qualify for free or reduced lunch based on their family income and many are from homes where English is not the primary language. They are eager to use technology but are rarely given the opportunity outside the home. When they get to use Chromebooks or iPads, it truly motivates and engages all students. However, seeing someone use them for the first time is an awesome experience. Even the students with little English skills become so eager to learn, and explore, and interact with other students. It opens up so many opportunities for everyone in the classroom.
