We house the Life Skills program for our district, including three life skills classrooms with a total of over 30 kids, and therefore support children with IEPs to those with the most severe disabilities.
Our school is a Title 1 school, and is dedicated to meeting every child where they are and mining resources to provide the most substantial and comprehensive education possible. 81% of our students are free lunch and 50% experience English as a new language.
As a first year teacher, I come to school intent on building a Life Skills Adapted PE program to support all of our children with special needs. From autism to wheelchairs, developmental delays to nonverbal communicators, I know every child can successfully learn and participate in physical education.
