Slater is located in Fresno, CA. Slater is a K-6 school with a pre-school program as well. We have an enrollment of approximately 743 students. Slater is title 1 and considered a low income of 94% of our school. Students consist of 60% Hispanic, 20% black and 8% white with 17% limited English proficient.
I will be teaching Kindergarten in the 2018-19 school year. My classroom will have diverse students from many different backgrounds and support. We know in kindergarten is where the reading foundation skills are implemented so these students can achieve their reading goals and stay on target.
We have limited funds when it comes to our additional resources and materials to support low readers within the classroom. We are in need of guided reading leveled books to help support our students.
