Bywood Elementary is a Title 1 school where most of our students are economically disadvantaged and qualify for free or reduced breakfast & lunch. While there are many wonderful students; supportive families at Bywood, many students are still lacking the support that they require from home. These students come from very diverse ethnic backgrounds and poverty stricken households. Sometimes students arrive at school without being fed or even without a winter jacket. Many are lacking simple, basic school supplies- as this is not their family's primary concern. I like to think that our school is a "safe-haven" for these children. In our classroom, students are valued classroom members that are respected, supported, and cared for.
