I am asking for a variety of STEM materials including a Deluxe Magnetic Building Block Set with Magnetic Tiles And 54-Piece Letter Card, a Goobi Construction Set, a set of PicassoTiles Magnet Building Tiles, a Gears! Gears! Gears! Super Building Set, and a set of Straw Constructor Interlocking Plastic Engineering Toys. These materials will be used in STEM bins. STEM bins are containers of materials for students to use in an unstructured way. They work in partners to see what they can create with open-ended materials.
Your generous donation will give my students the opportunity to engage collaboration and critical thinking skills. STEM and collaboration go hand in hand. These materials are open ended and provide different ways to think about creation. Sharing ideas will come naturally when provided with different building materials. The children building with magnetic shapes will have different problems to solve than the children building with gears.
STEM building materials allow my students to use many learning modalities. These activities are hands-on, visual, and require communication. Both logical and creative thinkers have unique and valuable strengths when engaged with STEM building materials.
