My kindergarten class consists of a wide range of students. I have ELL, SPED, significant needs, and grade level students that make up our classroom. My students come to school part-time. They attend full days every other day. My students come from a variety of backgrounds that range from no preschool to a structured preschool experience before kindergarten. I have students from the ages 5 and 6 years old. Some students come in knowing all their letters and sounds and others students only know a few in their name. I differentiate as soon as I have completed all the pre- assessments.
Our kindergarten classroom has a set of iPads. My students are eager to use iPads. It is exciting to think of all the ways that they can be used to enhance the learning of these little 5 and 6 year old children. The first week of school I integrate using the iPads for letter tracing. Touchtronics would be a great differentiation tool to use for my higher learners in kindergarten.
