As a young teacher, I have struggled to find and implement fun, engaging, movement activities to put to practice with my students on rainy days when we are unable to venture outside to the playground.
My Pre-kers need gross motor activity every day in order to learn successfully. Rainy days can make this very hard. A fun rainy day bag can help us get exercise and still learn! When kids are unable to exercise their energy they can become anxious, antsy, and struggle to maintain attention during learning times.
My students need rhythm sticks, activity scarves, and movement CDs to put to use during rainy days when they are unable to go outside and play.
Right now we have only one CD with movement songs on it and no dance props. We seem to do the same activities every rainy day and my students are growing bored of them, which is understandable!
