My students are eager-to-learn second graders. They come from predominately low income families with little to no technology or resources in their homes. The city in which we live is a border town to Mexico. Being that we are close to the Mexico border my students are mainly English language learners. Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch which is served to the students daily. It is evident that they appreciate what is available to them, which is shown in their hard work and personalities. Our school provides the best resources that funds allow; however, with the cost of technology it is difficult to have this accessible in my classroom. Not only do they lack resources and technology at home, the same goes with our school. Just because they come from low income families and resources are not always readily available to them, they equally deserve the opportunity to learn and benefit from the use of technology just like any other child in today's technology driven society.
