I teach English and English Language Development to 9th and 10th grade Special Education students. My students require motivation to learn and frequent prompting to stay on task. They struggle with reading and writing, yet attend class every day in hopes that they will improve their skills. My school is in a low income community, where 99 percent of the students are Hispanic. Technology is almost non-existent, yet my students are supposed to develop essential skills required after high school.
