My school would best be described as an urban school in a socially economically mixed community. Students come from predominantly middle to lower middle income homes. The social makeup of the school is approximately 60% Caucasian, 30% black, and 10% other. Students in this school are enthusiastic about learning for the most part, but funding for necessary supplies is greatly needed. In recent years, standardized test scores have been falling. Some of this may be contributed to the fact that students are in some cases not afforded the same access to resources as students at more affluent schools in the same district. Parents and students are both very involved in the learning process in this school, but they need to be provided access to necessary resources.
