I love to make our classroom warm and cozy. I want to inspire the students to feel comfortable, happy and positive. I pride myself on changing our classroom door each month to reflect the season or holiday coming up. It's a great way to welcome the students and let them know that I appreciate them coming to school each day. It shows them that someone cares enough to do little things that can brighten their days. I am also in charge of hallway bulletin boards and displays. The Cricut will save me so much time that instead of cutting letters and shapes out by hand, I can have more time to change the displays more frequently. Not only can I use it for our beautiful, inspiring displays, but also directly with the students. It can be used for book projects, t-shirts for rewards, holiday keepsakes, STEM activities, bookmarks, cards, signs and an end-of-the-year scrapbook.
One very specific way I will use this machine is for monthly rewards and certificates. For our PBIS program (positive behavior interventions and supports), every month, each classroom teacher chooses a "Great Gator" who exemplifies the character trait of the month. This Cricut will allow me to make personalized locker tags and certificate for all of the students who become a Great Gator. The students feel so proud to receive these tags and can't wait to hang them on their locker. They love seeing their name and picture highlighted on the hallway bulletin board display. I will also use the Cricut for lettering and student names that get added each month to the hallway bulletin board.
