I am a 2nd grade teacher at Pittsburgh Minadeo PreK-5 in Squirrel Hill. One hundred percent of the students at Pittsburgh Minadeo PreK-5 receive free breakfast and lunch. When we return to in person instruction, I would like to provide all 2nd grade students (44) with the necessary health and safety supplies to maintain proper social distancing and PPE safety in the classroom.
My students have shown an enthusiastic desire to learn during the pandemic, despite the challenges this pandemic has created for adults and children alike. I would like to give them the opportunity to hit the ground running when they return to brick and mortar learning with the instructional and PPE supplies needed for academic and physical health.
I will be able to reduce the likelihood of transmission of Covid-19 within the classroom by providing students with individual pencil boxes containing mechanical pencils, erasers, hand sanitizer, tissues, and disposable masks. The students will not have to worry the risks of cross contamination that are associated with sharing materials. The pencil boxes will be labeled with each student’s name and they will use only their own personal items.
