Many of my students come to me with anxious bodies and minds. I teach 6th grade resource. My classroom is primary for students with special needs but I am hoping to create a sensory classroom for all students to access, regardless of grade level or special education designation. I have developed sensory classrooms like this at other schools and in other districts and would like to do the same at my current location. My students with disabilities and their general education peers will all benefit from a sensory room. By providing these materials you will foster a classroom of learning and cooperation.
Teachers must teach the whole student: mind, body, and soul. I am hoping to create a calming environment where students can remain focused to increase their reading and math literacy to grade level.
