I have a first grader who should be in third grade and does not know all of his letters. I have three second graders who all have severe emotional concerns and need instruction in not only academics but also how to handle their feelings appropriately. I have five third graders who are not functional readers and need intensive instruction in letter sounds and blending. My fourth grade students are at many different levels - some are beginning readers and need modified curriculum while others just need some guided support in their general education curriculum. My school is located in inner city Cleveland and does not have all the resources available that a public, suburban school district would have. Our students do not all have the parental support at home for not only their academics but also their social emotional behavior. My kids are desiring so much to read but with a lack of resources it is not always the easiest to teach them how to read. Hands-on materials would be so wonderful!
