The students I serve not only have special learning needs, many have experienced traumatic events that disrupt their ability to relate to others and to successfully manage emotions and learning. Over 50% of the students at my school come from minority ethnic groups. Twenty-six percent are English language learners, some are homeless/migrant, and 98% of our students who have applied for free/reduced lunch qualify.
